This film tells the story of the Rossi family, whose treasured varieties of tomatoes grow in an aging greenhouse, lovingly tended by young Félie. Despite her care, the tomatoes are at risk of rotting, as Félie’s mother, Antonia—once famed for her vibrant, delicious produce—has lost her sense of taste and connection to her work after the death of Félie’s father. For Félie, her mother has become a distant figure, just when she needs her most. Holding the family together is grandmother Guiseppa, who longs to return to Italy. A Transient Taste is a beautifully layered narrative of grief, resilience and the delicate ties that bind a family and their connection to food and heritage.
