Two adorable giant pandas have delighted visitors by climbing trees and frolicking in the snow in a zoo in Changchun, northeast China's Jilin Province.
The male Jiajia, 8, and female Mengmeng, 7, were both sent to the zoo in July this year from a panda breeding center in Sichuan Province.
This is the first time that giant pandas are being raised at a high altitude, but both of them are currently healthy.
"Both of them are now in good condition, nothing abnormal have been found," said Huang Zhi, assistant director of the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda.
The pandas will continue to stay in Changchun for two and half years, during which researchers plan to study issues related to panda breeding in cold regions.
"After they have totally adapted to our environment, we will establish a specific subject to research panda breeding in our area. That will be valuable for scientific research and also matters a lot in the study of the species' inheritance factors," said Jiao Weiyi, director of the wildlife rescue and breeding center in Jilin.
