In 2023, the pioneering Canadian sci-fi metal band, VOIVOD, is celebrating four decades of existence with a momentous event. To mark this milestone, they are set to release a special anniversary studio album titled "Morgöth Tales" on July 21, through Century Media Records.
Produced by VOIVOD and recorded at RadicArt Studio by Francis Perron, the album showcases the current lineup's fresh studio re-recordings of nine carefully selected tracks from the band's extensive and diverse back catalogue, spanning from 1984 to 2003. Alongside these reimagined classics, the album features a brand-new song and the title track, "Morgöth Tales."
VOIVOD's drummer, Michel "Away" Langevin, expresses his excitement about the album, describing it as a journey through 40 years of space exploration. "Morgöth Tales" delves into some lesser-known aspects of VOIVOD's musical legacy, traversing genres from thrash-punk to prog-metal. The title track was born during their European tour with OPETH in late 2022, embodying the experimental essence of their contemporary music, with a fresh twist. Notably, the album also boasts the involvement of Eric (Forrest) and Jason (Newsted), adding to the excitement and diversity of the record.
