(20 Jun 1978) After an enthusiastic welcome to the Gujarat State Capital Ahmedabad on Sunday 18 June, India's former Premier, Mrs Indira Ghandi had to face a large demonstration against her, when she went to a local stadium to address a rally. The clash came in the centre of Ahmedabad when mrs Ghandi's congress supporters, who'd earlier given their leader an enthusiastic welcome at the airport, were faced by workers of the ruling Janata Party. They clashed on the route mrs Ghandi was to take to address a rally at the city's Shastri Stadium. Several people were injured when police used teargas to disperse the demonstration
