On our first video of our summer 2023 sailing season, we sail from Kalmar Sweden into the Karlskrona archipelago.
Our main goal for the summer is to spend as much time along the western coast of Norway as possible but we will make time for a couple special spots along the way and this archipelago is one such spot!
Our first night at anchor this season is calm and restful as we remain on the boat and are serenaded by wonderful birdsong. We set off early so we have time to enjoy our second anchorage along the northern shore of Flaggskär island, just southeast of the town of Karlskrona. This simple and rustic island is very special. The sheep population is significant and they add to the beauty of the rocky plateaus, clear ponds and plentiful foliage. We learn of a Russian sub grounding 40 years prior just a couple miles north of where Sea Rose is anchored! The tales these islands could tell.
The island of Hanö is our next stop and what a jewel this is. The hiking trails criss-cross the entire island and the landscape is varied and beautiful.
Please join us next episode as we sail under Sweden’s southern coast and head north towards the famous Goteborg archipelago!
Hope you enjoy!
