When it comes to the Giant's Causeway, there are two different legends which are always heard and which always come to the person and which one he/she wants to believe - from our side, we always feel that the second one makes more sense! ([ Ссылка ])

The first legend related to the stories told about the Giant's Causeway and the formation of those rocks is the one about Fionn McCool - the famous Irish giant was having a fight with a Scottish giant - Benandonner who is threatening Ireland.
Finn grabs stones from the Antrim coast and throws them into the sea. The rock forms a path for Finn to follow to Scotland and teach Benandonner a lesson. When Fionn arrives - he sees Benandonner is massive! Finn gets home to Antrim as quick as possible, followed by the giant. Fionn hides in his babies pram in his house and when the Scottish Giant arrives - he sees the baby and decided if the child was that big, the daddy must be really huge. So leaves - pulling up the stones as he goes, leaving only the stones we see today at the Giants Causeway! ([ Ссылка ])

The second myth or legend told about this place or the second version that you might be hearing about the place is - the Causeway is from old Volcano's from 60 million years ago - which left 40,000 basalt columns for us to wonder at today!

Knowing more about the Giant's Causeway became a demand by those who will be visiting the place and that is exactly the reason why we decided to bring some information about the place and unfold those legends and myths which are told just to give those people the chance to know the history behind the place which they are going to visit. The Giant's Causeway is a natural rock formation that is believed to be formed from a volcanic eruption and which has been found there since millions of years and which is located on the northeast coast of Northern Ireland, just a few miles from the town of Bushmills and that is why it is always considered in Bushmills and people are always advised to visit those other locations which are found near Bushmills.

The Giant's Causeway is actually one of the most famous touristic attractions in Northern Ireland and it was voted as the fourth best natural wonder in the UK. It is not just that and not only being the 4th best wonder in UK, but the Giant's Causeway was also declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986 and a natural nature reserve in 1987 by the Department of the Environment for Northern Ireland. Much of the Giant's Causeway and the Causeway Coast World Heritage Site is owned and managed by the National Trust.

The Giant's Causeway is all about the 40,000 interlocking columns which are made from basalt and some of these different stones reach as high as 39 feet in the air. The tops of these columns form stepping stones that lead from the cliff foot and disappear under the sea, most of these columns are hexagonal and there are also those with four, five, seven or eight sides.

It is not just about the history of the Giant's Causeway and the magic of the place, but a lot of people don't even know that even though there are a lot of feet that moved through this place, there are some plants which only grow in this area and which botanists sometimes come to this location to check it, there are also different sea birds which are only found in this place and which also help in making it different to those who come to visit it and enjoy the beauty of nature while at the same time know more about its history.

Being in Bushmills or near the place, there are different other places which one could visit, such as doing a trip through the Causeway Coastal Route ([ Ссылка ]) which you will definitely enjoy, you could also visit Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge which is one of the famous old bridges in Northern Ireland as well, checking Dunluce Castle which is also famous among the list ([ Ссылка ]), and getting introduced to the town of Bushmills in general which will be also an interesting thing to do there ([ Ссылка ]) which will of course include going to Bushmills Distillery along the way ([ Ссылка ]).
