There is a critical error occuring in Windows 10 OS saying "Start Menu and Cortana aren't working. We' ll try to fix it next time to sign in" but the problem with this error is it persistent and blocking user to perform any operation as the task bar & start menu are inactive when it occurs.
I have faced the same issue and after researching for a workable easy solution. I have found out one and shared the same with you.
1. Open the command prompt as Administator through a folder
2. Run the "sfc /scannow" command
3. Wait until the verification is complete
4. Restart your PC after it is complete by clicking on the Sign out Now button
