History
Starting off in 1919 with 4 vehicles and 17 employees, Yamato Transport was offered a contract for distributing goods for Japan's largest department store chain company Mitsukoshi in 1923. This contract growing every year and the gaining of new contracts, enabled Yamato Transport to set up a national transport network.
After the economic boom in the sixties and the recession in the seventies, Yamato Transport made the right and daring decision to free themselves from the contracts and convert their Takkyubin delivery system into a door-to-door delivery network for individual clients and consumers. From this point on the company grew and introduced other services like home-moving and refrigerated transport.
The black cat logo, developed in 1957 by the founder Mr. Yasuomi Ogura himself, has become the national symbol for transport in Japan and will be all over the world. In the eighties Yamato Transport established networks in South-East Asia, the U.S.A. and Europe, which were further greatly expanded.
Today you will find the black cat at your service right on the spot where you need it. After 90 years it still stands for care and reliability.
