In the early 1800's a tunnel was built in the side of the escarpment, which is now Warner Road for farmers to use as a means to move produce and cattle through, after the railway was built above. Since it's abandonment, the Niagara Falls tunnel is the site of Canada's most famous ghost story which has led to it being dubbed, 'The Screaming Tunnel', as the ghost of a young girl, who perished in the famous tunnel, is said to haunt it. If you go in the tunnel at midnight, and light a candle, the ghost will blow it out, that is after you hear a 'whistling scream'. The famous Stephen King THE DEAD ZONE book adaptation, which became a movie in 1983 starring Christopher Walken and Martin Sheen, was shot in this famous tunnel.
