[ Ссылка ] – Here Dr. Thomas Chacko of Chacko Allergy, Asthma and Sinus Center explains the signs and symptoms of a milk allergy.
Transcription:
What are the signs of milk allergy? Milk allergy is usually diagnosed as a baby. Typically, when they introduce dairy or yogurt or some type of dairy form, they break out with hives. It is usually hives the first time but it could also be nausea, vomiting, and facial swelling. Those are really the signs of true milk allergy which is different than intolerance where people who may be older have lactose intolerance, have more stomach issues.
Milk allergy is similar to the peanut allergy where they break out with hives and usually known as a baby. Many people who have it as a baby will outgrow it as they get older, 80%. I tend to see the 20% who have not outgrown it because if they have outgrown it they would not come to me.
Depending on how sensitive you are and how much milk you have or how much dairy you got exposed to, it could depend on how to predict what the reaction may be. So, those are some of the signs and symptoms.
Generally, we now have ways to test it by blood or by scratch testing, and pending those results, we could always think about different treatment plans, either avoidance, having an epinephrine injector, or now we have desensitization we can do called milk oral immunotherapy. I am happy to help if you have milk allergy and would like to get further evaluated. Thanks.
