On October 10, 2012, the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform held a hearing entitled, "The Security Failures of Benghazi" to examine the state of security at the U.S. Embassy and Consulate in Libya prior to the assassination of Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and his colleagues on September 11, 2012.
