This is an interview of a Latvian riflemen, (Strelnieks). Who in this interview is a member of the Latvian National Army formed after the collapse of Imperial Russia. At this time the Red Riflemen had gone off to Russia to support the Communist who they saw as the only acceptable alternative to Imperial Germany and Imperial Russia. The Latvian National Army was formed and after the German army signed the Armistice with Imperial Russia. The Germans began to assist the allies in trying to contain the communists and created a strange event where Latvians and Germans who had been fighting each other were on the same side (for awhile) until Bermonts went rogue and tried to take Latvia for himself and his followers. A very confusing time and if you lived there at that time you were very lucky to survive.
