In the aftermath of the George Zimmerman / Trayvon Martin case, we often get the question whether California is a so-called "stand your ground" state in terms of self-defense law. In this video, a former Los Angeles prosecutor (now a criminal defense lawyer) explains that the answer is yes. Said another way, under California law, there is no duty to retreat before exercising a valid right of self-defense.
