Davis Favors’ review of W. David Marx’s book Ametora dives deep into the history of Japanese Americana Fashion. Favors touches on Marx’s exploration of the evolution of Japan’s obsession with American traditional wear, designers that emerged and/or took inspiration from the movement, and America’s eventual recognition of Japan’s unique street style among other topics.
This video book review coincides with Davis Favors’ article in issue one of the UCLA JSA’s Zine, “LA x JPN EXCHANGE.”
