Alberto Fujimori, former president of Peru, has died at the age of 86 after a long battle with cancer. Fujimori, who led Peru throughout the 1990s, was convicted and sentenced in 2009 to a lengthy prison term for human rights violations and corruption. A polarizing figure in Peruvian politics, he was granted a controversial pardon on health grounds in 2017, a move that divided the nation. CGTN’s Dan Collyns reflects on his life and legacy.
