Sid Meier's Beyond Earth released with a mixed reception - not a bad game, but often considered more of a Civ 5 mod than a fully fledged title. Beyond Earth received somewhat favorable reviews but many players felt it didn't live up to the Alpha Centauri legacy and that it was ultimately dropped by Firaxis due to its lousy performance. At the time, I never played Rising Tides. Now I'm back with my Sid Meier's Civilization Beyond Earth Rising Tides review gameplay coverage some 7 years later to make the case that this game, while still imperfect and no historical strategy civ game, is a great civ experience at its price point and while we wait in a lull for civ 7 and prepare for the release of some pretty exciting space and 4x sci-fi strate3gy games over the next quarter including Falling Frontier and later in the year, Dune Spice Wars.
