A man has been sentenced to just under two years in prison for sexual activity with children under 16.
James Alman was found guilty in October last year on 15 historical counts relating to instances of inappropriately touching and kissing girls who were young teens.
In sentencing, Stipendiary Magistrate, Charles Pitto, said the 69 year old Alman abused a position of trust and segregated the victims from their family.
Mr Pitto said the girls ‘had been groomed as if on a farm’, and that a shadow had been cast over their lives.
A Sexual Offenders Protection Order has been put into place for ten years. It prohibits Alman from living with girls under the age of 16
The sentences for all 15 charges amounted to a custodial sentence of 102 weeks.
The offences took place before the Crimes Act 2011 was brought into effect.
This Act allows for longer sentencing for such matters but cannot be applied to crimes which took place before it was enacted.
