In this video, I discuss the recent news that Warren Buffett and Berkshire Hathaway have taken a position in the gold mining company, Barrick Gold (GOLD).
This is especially big news because Buffett has been a long-time opponent of gold, which he has mocked as a non-productive asset that is pushed by fear-mongers.
Berkshire also announced that Buffett has exited their Goldman Sachs position, as well as selling off large chunks of JP Morgan and Wells Fargo.
The portfolio changes mark a sea-change for Buffett, as he turns his back on the dying fiat currency system (banks), and begins to hedge against central bank money printing using gold mining stocks like Barrick.
This bodes quite well for gold and gold mining stocks over the coming decades, since Buffett has a tendency to only take positions in stocks that he is happy to hold for decades.
I still prefer Bitcoin over gold and the gold miners, but it seems unlikely that Buffett will reverse his position on Bitcoin as "rat poison squared" any time soon.
