What is Scouting for Food? It is the largest single-day food drive in the United States. Scouts pick up donated non-perishable foods and give it to food banks who give it to the hungry people in communities. Scouting For Food started as a National event in 1988, and it teaches Scouts how to be helpful, and follow the Scout Slogan.
What should people donate for scouting for food? The goal of Scouting for Food is to help feed the hungry in our communities.
How do you get flyers for scouting for food? Scouts distribute flyers on the front door of your home the first Saturday in November. Donations are left outside the door the following Saturday. Scouts will collect the donations.
How can you prepare for a Scouting For Food drive?
Scouting for Food occurs on the 1st Saturday for flyer drop-offs. The following Saturday is when the Scouts pick up the food, and drop it off at the local collection sites. By collecting food for people in need, Scouts are “doing a good turn” and “helping other people,” key elements of the Scout Oath and slogan.
