About a century ago, European bison were nearly extinct. In fact, they were no more of them left in the wild and the only ones that remained lived in zoos. But, after captive breeding and reintroductions into the wild, they were able to make a great comeback. These large mammals can now be found in the wild within 13 different European countries.
