Cane farming is integral to Far North Queensland—we've been building a new cane rail line in time to be ready for the 2021 cane crushing season.
The tamping machine you can see in the video is used to pack the track ballast under the railway tracks to make the tracks more durable.
The wettest April on record in Cairns didn't stop us delivering the realignment and construction of a critical cane line on the Edmonton to Gordonvale project.
This is our largest road and rail infrastructure project in Far North Queensland.
It will deliver 4.5km of Queensland Rail North Coast Line relocation, 10km of local road construction and 8 kilometres of new cane rail infrastructure.
