Join us as we travel to Poland’s eastern frontier to visit Zamość, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Poland’s “Pearl of the Renaissance”. Zamość was founded by the wealthy and influential Polish magnate Jan Zamoyski in 1580. It was the Renaissance period, and Zamoyski aimed to create an ideal city based on advanced urban planning and architecture of that era. Zamość was designed as an "ideal city" according to the plans of the Italian architect Bernardo Morando. It was intended to be a city with a perfect urban layout, featuring a central square in the shape of a square, radial streets, and well-designed defensive fortifications. In the video we will see the impressive Great Market Square, see the majestic City Hall, and marvel at the town’s colorful renaissance architecture.
