Echidnas, also known as spiny anteaters, are native to Australia and New Guinea. They are small, burrowing mammals that have a unique physical appearance, characterized by their spines and snouts that are adapted for foraging in termite mounds and ant hills. They are one of only two mammals (the other being the platypus) that lay eggs instead of giving live birth.
