Kareena’s speech is titled The Cost of Cultural Loss: How Generations of Immigrants Lose Their Cultures. She hopes to help those who feel they can't connect with their heritage. Inspired by her parents, Kareena aims to help progress our mindset towards heritage and identity.
Kareena Saggar is Grade 11 student at Abbey Park High School who will be talking about social identity, a topic she finds important and very close to her heart. Kareena hopes that her audience will hear and implement her presented solutions to keep our culture diverse, that audience that feels as if they can't connect with their heritage gets some peace of mind, and that people who demean others because of someone's lack of culture learn that there are consequences to their actions. She hopes to become a lawyer one day, working to help people. She wants to work in a company that gives her the opportunity to make changes in the world. Kareena is very involved in school with extracurriculars such as the South Asian Student Association, DECA, holding an executive role in Eagle Ink, and more! She is also the Personnel Manager of the Oakville Symphony Youth Orchestra, outside of school.
