It is said that the Salento is the land of olive trees. But a very long time before their presence, this territory was occupied by impenetrable forests principally of majestic oaks.
In the heart of Corigliano, along via Moncenisio, enclosed in a small park which protects its integrity, you can admire one of the most suggestive tree species in the whole peasant Salento: the vallonea oak, belonging to the family of Fagacee, such as the beech and the chestnut trees. It is about 15 metres high with a foliage of 20 metres of diameter.
