This summer, wildfires have ripped through Southern Turkey, killing at least 8 people and destroying over 59 neighbourhoods.

While this year’s fire season is the worst in Turkey’s history, this summer could be a glimpse of what’s to come without urgent climate action. Temperatures in the Mediterranean basin are rising 20% faster than the global average, and hotter and drier conditions make it more likely for the smallest spark to ignite devastating wildfires.

The connection between these fires and the climate crisis is inescapable. Demand climate action now.
