On March 27, 2021, the Asian community at Binghamton University organized a rally to raise awareness about an ongoing wave of Asian hate crimes and to demand more of their school administration.
Several hundred supporters showed up to hear the voices of students, professors, government representatives, and more before marching around campus chanting their support for the community and cause.
Countless students contributed their unique talents to make the rally a reality. They helped with event planning, advertising, outreach, and more, all while navigating the dangers of COVID.
Here at Amateur Mastermind, we contributed with our cameras.
Our team captured photo and video of the entire event and cut together a video for you to view here. Though we couldn’t come close to capturing the feeling of being at the uplifting event in-person, we could give you the highlights of the day. Speech highlights, March highlights, and more.
You might have seen us at the @NYCAASC conference where the video premiered back in April of this year. We gave a short Q&A alongside other Asian video creators and were able to share the Bing Stop Asian Hate Rally message with others.
Unfortunately, the issue hasn’t ended. The wave of attacks and hate crimes against Asians continues worldwide. By uniting communities we can find ways to help our people, hold institutions accountable, and push back together.
