As part of its centenary, LNER A3 no 60103 ‘Flying Scotsman’ would tour the UK mainline network on a variety of charters for the Railway Touring Company, of which I captured 2 such workings on and off home metals in recent weeks
First would be a run on the WCML with “The Cheshireman” from London Euston to Chester and return on Saturday 10th June 2023, of which the A3 is firstly seen at between South Hampstead and Kilburn just before 7am as she steam along former rival tracks on its journey north
Later the A3 would return the train to London, passing through Bletchley at a reduced speed for I believe a platform restriction before powering back up again, although the power was certainly coming from the Class 47 on the rear
2 weeks later and Scotsman was off to the seaside on “The Great Yarmouth Flyer” from London Kings Cross to Great Yarmouth and return on Friday 23rd June 2023, seen on the return leg flying through Burgess Road crossing nr Waterbeach as the crowd admire her passing, finally the A3 is seen taking on the centre road at Cambridge, although nothing too special this is quite a rare sight even for other timetabled working
