In this video Mary explains how municipalities budget, collect, and spend money. Two types of budgets are discussed: the operational budget and the capital budget. Both are broken down, with focus on the process for and role of councillors in deciding the amount owed for property taxes and municipal services each year. Mary wraps up by highlighting key points to discuss with your candidates, and current councillors, about taxes.
