We had this 2013 Audi Q5 visit one of our MotoFyx car repair workshop for an annual service along with a concern relating to that of abnormal noise ,sluggish braking performance & Vibrations on brake pedal.
The braking efficiency of the car had overtime reduced considerably. Since the car was used for daily commute, a drop in braking performance made it difficult to safely manoeuvre the car. Concerned about the car’s driving safety, the car owner reached out to us for immediate assistance.
Upon a detailed inspection of the car by our expert technicians, dismantling all four wheels and upon inspecting the brakes, it was observed that the front brake pads had worn out which had resulted in uneven linings across the brake disc surface.
*Function of brake pads:
- Brake pads are frictional shoe materials located on both sides of the disc rotor inside a caliber clamp to stop the motion and bring the car to rest
- When brakes are hydraulically applied, the calliper clamps squeeze the two pads together onto the spinning rotor in order to slow/stop the car
*Symptoms of worn-out brake pads:
- Squealing noise while braking
- Ineffective braking
- Burning smell upon braking
- Vibrations
- Spongy brake pedal
*Solution:
- The rear brake disc were replaced.
- The worn out brake pads were replaced with new ones
- Brake bleeding was done
- Annual service was performed
