The current job situation in New Zealand has limited vacancies, so it may be better for candidates to keep their current jobs and consider coming to New Zealand only to complete the registration process or OSCE. Afterward, they can return to their home country to attend interviews and follow up on any hiring processes from there. Since most interviews are conducted via Zoom, attending an interview from overseas or within New Zealand (like Christchurch or Auckland) will be the same.
Candidates can return to their own jobs and apply for New Zealand positions when they receive job offers or find vacancies. Once a job offer is secured, they can then apply for a work visa to come here.
Regarding APC (Annual Practicing Certificate) renewal, it’s possible to renew even without a job offer. If there are questions about having two years of experience within the last five years, you can answer ‘yes’ if you include your overseas experience. It doesn’t need to be specific to New Zealand. Answer questions honestly—if asked whether you’re currently working in New Zealand, you can answer ‘no’ if you are not, and state that you are seeking employment if asked for a reason.
