Lassen Volcanic National Park is a spectacular national park rich in diverse geology, volcanism, geothermal vents, alpine lakes and most importantly memories to be made. Located in north east California, and easily identifiable by iconic Lassen Peak (Mount Lassen), it is an underrated park with few roads, making it a backpackers paradise in most seasons.

I went in March at the tail end of winter and was lucky enough to get graced with some winter magic, creating a wonderful 2 day unforgettable adventure. The winter experience is dramatically different as the main park road is completely snowbound until June usually, so your ability to get around is less, but that just makes each view and vista worth it.
