Adoni Media Managing Director Leisa Goddard says a Gold Coast theme park's investment into new thrill rides is "fantastic" news for an industry that has been so "dependent" on the international tourism dollar.

"From a tourism perspective it's great news. We know how tough the Gold Coast has done it and how dependent they are on the international tourism dollar and that's not going to be coming into Australia anytime soon," she told Sky News host Peter Gleeson.

"The Gold Coast is built as the playground for Australia - if they can put more attractions in there that's fantastic."
