A generous gift from my Grandfather! He picked it up at an antique store. I quickly got it to the workshop, and tested the power transformer, along with the coils, if cans and crt for continuity, and no problems there. Next I tested all the tubes, and got replacements for the bad ones. Still had mostly Admiral tubes installed! After that I cleaned all the tube sockets, and pots with deoxit. Then I did a shotgun recap, replaced out of tolerance resistors as necessary, repaired some brittle wire, and soldering iron damaged wire. First power up revealed a weak, but usable 7JP4 crt, but I was able to adjust the vertical, and horizontal controls to fill the screen evenly. The plastic crt bezel was very yellowed, and wouldn't polish out. That didn't help the weak 7JP4 too much. Soon I found a parts donor set, and to my surprise it had a strong 7JP4! Since the electronic restore I've put about 30 hours on the set, and it seems to improve with use. I did successfully add the retrace line blanking circuit. All that's left is to finish cleaning, and polishing the cabinet! The 7JP4 that came in the set was a Sylvania, not sure if it's a replacement, and the strong one is a RCA. I got another strong RCA 7JP4 from the "Vintage TV Hoard" thread on VK for a backup. I'm very happy with the performance of this tv!
