As the Southern Ocean warms as a result of a changing climate, the effects of these changes on primary producers and zooplankton is widely unknown. To inform our understanding of the impact these changes may have, the utilization of long term Southern Ocean monitoring programs may become key. The Australian Continuous Plankton Recorder (CPR) programs, (AusCPR and SO-CPR) have been sampling the waters between the Australian and Antarctic continents for 30+ years. Using this publicly available data set, we can interrogate CPR records to track patterns, changes and trends in Southern Ocean plankton ecology.
