In this video, I’m going to show you 3 ways to strip CAT6 and which one is the preferred method according to the Low Voltage Nation Facebook Group.
Crimps
This one came in at 3rd place on the LVN Group poll. Most crimping tools come with a built-in stripping tool.
Stripping Tool
2nd place at 112 votes is the purpose-built stripping tools. Some have many different options and sizes for various cables.
While this is arguably the preferred tool, it didn’t come in at number one
Snips
At number one, we have SNIPS. Most technicians are proficient with their snips and know how to score the jacket without knicking the wires. It’s a touchy subject, but it is much faster and easier than using a dedicated stripping tool
To learn more about the poll and join in on the discussion, please check out our Low Voltage Nation Facebook Group… it’s the wild west, but we keep it mostly professional and moderated.
