On days 2 and 3 following the placement of the Allurion gastric balloon, you can expect to have less discomfort as your body continues adjusting to the device. Bloating, nausea, and fatigue may still be present but should be decreasing. Continue taking any prescribed anti-nausea or acid reducing medications as directed by your doctor. You will progress from a clear liquid diet to pureed, soft, bland foods like yogurt, mashed potatoes, soup, applesauce, protein shakes etc. Small, frequent meals are recommended rather than large portions. Stay well hydrated by drinking water, tea, broths, diluted juices or sports drinks. Light activity like short walks can help digestion and prevent bloating. Your doctor may want you to come in for a follow up appointment and to check the balloon position. Report any unusual symptoms immediately. Otherwise, expect the balloon to normalize in your stomach within 3-7 days as you strictly follow the post-procedure diet guidelines. Continue transitioning to soft, healthy foods, increasing calories gradually under medical supervision.
