Taiwan’s armed forces conducted anti-aircraft landing drills on Wednesday, to showcase its defense capabilities ahead of the Lunar New Year holidays.
Enemy troops in the exercise could be seen emerging from landed helicopters and taking positions at an army base in Taiwan’s southern city of Kaohsiung, while defending troops fired in response from armored vehicles and attack helicopters.
The routine drills come amid heightened tensions and renewed threats toward Taiwan from China.
Taiwan's defense ministry on Monday said it had detected 57 Chinese aircraft near the island in the previous 24 hours, including 28 aircraft that flew into Taiwan's air defense zone. (Reuters)
