For the 2018 G3 Concert Encore, Joe Satriani, John Petrucci and Phil Collen (of Def Leppard) came on stage together and shredded their way through three covers (with vocals). Blues standard Going Down was the finale performed at the Ikeda Theater in Mesa, Arizona on January 18, 2018. Going Down was written by Don Nix (a man who played saxophone for the Mar-Keys, who eventually morphed into Booker T & The MGs) and the cover version by bluesman Freddie King released on his 1971 album Getting Ready made the song famous, as it was a part of his live show. The guitar jam/rotation of this finale is just incredible, as was the whole G3 concert. The word WOW just doesn't do it the justice it deserves!
