In 2023, the European Union and Turkmenistan celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations. The meeting provided therefore a good occasion to sum up common achievements in these relations and to reflect on the future cooperation, both bilateral and within the framework of the "European Union - Central Asia" Dialogue.
The European Union has long been a reliable partner of Turkmenistan, providing opportunities for participation in numerous specialised projects and programmes aimed at addressing key priorities in the country's economic and social development. These encompass areas such as economic development, review of legislation, education, agriculture, water management, environment protection and climate change.
The dialogue between the two leaders was marked by an eager exchange of ideas regarding the future prospects for cooperation, taking into account the existing diverse potential.
