Artist Resume:
Hello. My name is Tamara Pikulina.
I am a Master of Fine Art and Bachelor of Architecture working for my own Art Lives Here art school and Art studio for the last 5 years. I specialize now on digital art, landscapes, still life, portraits, book illustrations and murals.
I graduated from the Moscow Institute of Fine Arts in 2010 after taking a 6-year program, first receiving a Bachelor's and then a Master’s degree with honors. During my course of study, I had my internship at the State Historical Museum in Moscow and in the Armory of the Moscow Kremlin Museums as a restorer. Numerous student exhibitions and competitions helped me master various art techniques such as painting and drawing, sculpture and jewelry.
It was easier for me to study and get my second education at the Institute of Architecture since I already built a good foundation while studying at the first institute. The Institute of Architecture taught me spatial thinking and the ability to implement my ideas into a project. My graduation project was a residential building of 39 stories.
In the 2011 to 2013 period, I painted several movie theatres and educational centers.
In 2013, I immigrated to Toronto, Canada, and started working on my own projects.
In 2014, I illustrated my first sci-fi novel Dream Planet. The illustration for this published work can be seen at: [ Ссылка ]
I’ve also illustrated an educational chess book for kids called King Arthur and his Minions written by the two-time Toronto champion. The digital illustration for this book can be seen at: [ Ссылка ]
I’ve participated several times in the popular Toronto art event Art Battle, and made it to the final round. All my paintings created at the event were instantly sold at the auction.
At the same time, I continued working on wall paintings/murals. My first pro bono painting made in Toronto was an illustration called Toronto of the Future. On the wall, I made a depiction of the CN Tower and the Rogers Centre in the year 2100.
The idea behind the "Cities of the Future" Digital Art project came to me in 2014, when one of my friends commissioned a wall painting on the theme. He lived on the 41st floor in downtown Toronto with a beautiful view of the CN Tower and Rogers Center, and wanted me to draw a breathtaking view of the skyscrapers along Lake Ontario, roughly the same type that he had out of his window. I
replied that to draw the same view on the wall would be boring as it was already available. It would be way more interesting to draw the same view in a hundred to two hundred years, so that guests could see the current view, the projected view, and compare the two. This idea really struck a chord with my friend, so I started on the idea. The work was coming along quite quickly, considering how inspired I felt. The Toronto of the future seemed to me to come in bright, rainbow tones. The new
architectural developments would include foreign extra-terrestrial like structures, with flying cars and fancy ramps. In the completion process for the piece, both my art and architectural education came in handy. Every imagined building in the painting was basically an architectural project in itself, which could be potentially built some day. I was extremely happy with the result and thought that it would be a good idea to expand the concept, considering the positive feedback from the audience of the original work. It would be possible to take major cities such as Vancouver, New York, or Tokyo as a basis, and predict potential developments in the 100-200 year future. What else will be built on Earth, how will architecture change, and what will transport and roads look like? These questions are of interest to humanity itself, and these works are bound to find an audience.
