Super Alloy 1 contains cadmium. Super Alloy 1 saved another piece of pot metal in just a couple minutes. We were doing demonstrations at a classic car swap meet (we are not the pop can rods) and a gentleman approached the booth with a 1966 Chevy Nova SS exterior pot metal trim piece from the lower back panel. Sam had been searching for this piece for some time. Sam said there are no aftermarket parts for the trim piece he needed. When you can't find the rare parts you need on the internet, you find a local vintage car swap meet and sift through a mountain of used parts to find your gem. We could see he had a broken chromed part and that usually means zinc die-cast or pot metal. Sam purchased the rare part for five dollars as the seller didn't know the part was either rare or didn't know pot metal could be fixed so easily. The Dremel died when we were trying to remove the chrome from the backside as the super Alloy 1 does not bond to chrome. It took less time to solder the zinc cast than prepare the part. The Super Alloy 1 melting point is half the melting point of pot metal. The Alloy's low temperature didn't even scar the chrome plating. Sam could remove the plating and repair any pitting under the chrome, nickel, and copper, along with the break in the part and have the part re-chromed as the solder is used in plating shops across the world. When someone tells you pot metal, galvanized metal, cast iron, pewter, joining pot metal to steel, copper to aluminum, and much more cannot be repaired, tell them to MUGGY WELD IT
