Global News presents BC Remembers, a 2020 Remembrance Day ceremony special that took place at the Cenotaph in Downtown Vancouver, that commemorates the sacrifice of those who have served and continue to serve our country. While the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of many local Remembrance Day ceremonies, the low-key ceremony at the Cenotaph featured: Former broadcaster and chair of the Remembrance Day committee Cam Cathcart as Master of Ceremonies, Youth Poem “To Remember” by Grade 11 student Iris Jiang, Prayer of Remembrance by Captain Rev. Kenneth Lo, 39 Service Battalion, Last Post sounded by bugler Bdr. Olivier Couturier of the 15th Field Band, Royal Canadian Artillery and music by the Bach Choir Youth and Sarabande.
Special guests on the Global BC broadcast also include Captain Trevor Greene and his wife, Debbie. In 2006, Trevor was attacked with an axe while serving in Afghanistan. Fourteen years later, he continues to push conventional limits of brain health recovery. Tim Laidler, Retired Corporal with the BC Regiment and one of the founders of the Veterans Transition Network, also joins us to talk about how soldiers shift from combat to civilian life.
