After spending a week with the 2025 Equinox Active, I am sold. GM put some true effort into making the all new 2025 Equinox a smash hit, with bold body styling, a truly class leading interior design & technology, a solid ride and quiet cabin… this is a fantastic compact gas SUV. (Equinox EV is on a totally unrelated platform we have not reviewed yet) And at literally just under $40k nearly fully loaded, I would consider this against some major rivals.

🏁 @Alllcarnews Spec Sheet: Under the hood is a surprisingly peppy 1.5L turbo four cylinder making 175HP and 203 lb-ft of torque to the front or all four wheels. FWD models use a CVT while AWD models use an 8-speed auto. I did notice some torque steering, even in AWD models even when in FWD mode. MPG was strong in the high 20s and low 30s. 🏁

Highs:
+ GM is winning on design these days with attractive interior and exterior layouts
+Overall, the ‘25 Equinox Activ has it all from standard safety kit, an impressive interior feel & quality, and smooth infotainment software

Lows (largely personal preference):
-I prefer a full time AWD system even though this multi-clutch selectable unit works very well in inclimate weather
-The Equniox drives very comfortable and has good body control, but lacks any sporty dynamic nature
-For an Actuve trim, simply adding all terrain rubber isn’t good enough, I would like to see a “ZR2” style conversion to rival Subaru Wilderness, Jeep Trailhawk.

Solid 8.5/10: I really enjoyed the equinox, from the attractive design, to the comfortable ride, good technology, and decent MPG, it’s an all around good vehicle.
