This week, we join Lieutenant Tony Kakande at Gateshead corps at a warm bank session.
As the cost-of-living crisis deepens, Gateshead Salvation Army have opened their doors to provide a warm space, six days a week. This is for vulnerable people, who would otherwise struggle as temperatures drop and nights draw in. Warm banks are public places where people can go to keep warm in the winter, when they can’t afford to keep their heating on at home due to the cost of living crisis and energy bill hikes.
Many of our local churches and centres are collaborating with local campaigns, initiatives and other faith groups to work together and offer people a safe, warm space this winter.
