US President Joe Biden has been roasted online after he was caught repeating a fact-checked and debunked lie.
On Tuesday, the 81-year-old posted a clip of his interview with CBS News reporter Bob Costa to X.
In the clip, Biden explained that then-president Donald Trump’s “very fine people” comments inspired him to run for president.
The comments Biden referred to were the ones Trump made following the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville.
Snopes, a fact-checking website, debunked the “very fine people” hoax and added Trump’s comments were taken out of context.
Biden’s interview was around the seventh anniversary of the Charlottesville rally, leading the president to re-tell the story.
Users on X, however, blasted the oldest-ever sitting president for repeating the debunked story.
“You're a disgrace! Just go back to passing out on the beach,” wrote one user.
