Hi ya'll!
Today I want to talk about FAILURE. I get asked about success all the time and its always easy to talk about successes but never as easy to talk about failure.

Especially in the age of social media, I see a lot of people reinventing themselves. Most often into super versions of who people truly are. The good only, and not the bad.

That is just not real life! We all have failures. And to be honest, talking about these failures took me back to a very emotional place. It is never fun dealing with disappointments or rehashing them. How you rise above is what will really determine if you are "successful". Remember failure does not detract from your success. It is a roadblock but a normal part of life.

Even 10 years out of school, with a successful practice and as a professor of dentistry, it is still difficult to talk about failure. But it shouldn't be. I especially don't want future dentists to think that what they see as a flashy photo on the 'gram is what success looks like. Does it make me nervous that people will try to size me up and make assumptions about how smart I am or how skilled I am? Sure. But I am at the point now where I feel the benefits of sharing failures outweigh whatever ill placed judgement I will get. As i've gotten older, i've developed thicker skin and a little more confidence in who I am. I am here to tell you, there is NO successful person out there who has not overcome many failures.
