Tavistock is a beautiful town in South Devon, a gateway to Dartmoor and popular with visitors. Tavistock North Station was a hive of activity for many years for the GWR, before it closed to passenger traffic in 1962.
Many railway enthusiasts still visit the old station, which is a private dwelling, and aptly named Beachings Folly. The archive cine footage is not the best, but it does preserve the memory of the days when the railways were the best way to travel.
The DVD, PLYMOUTH TO EXETER – THE SOURTHERN WAY, show the LSW/SR line that ran from Devon into Cornwall and tells the story of the trains, the stations and people who remember the line. : [ Ссылка ]
