Nature is indeed full of surprises. In the blink of an eye, its power can show us how small we are in this world. And I’m not just talking about natural disasters. I’m also talking about mind-blowing destinations that really prove that the world around us is unpredictable and we can always find something new in it. In today’s video, we’ll be looking at “15 Stunning Examples of Nature’s Power.” From unbelievable scenery to shocking life-changing events, this video will prove to you that nature’s power is something you don’t wanna mess with. Let’s begin.
Destructive Floods
A bit of rain is always good. But when it starts to pour and it doesn’t seem to stop, it can be quite a chaotic experience. Lucky for us, none of us had to live through the Yangtze River Floods in 1931 China. The Central Part of the country went through one of the deadliest natural disasters in history after the July rain caused the Yangtze River to overflow its banks. The flood covered around 70,000 square miles, affecting the nation greatly. The government says there were around 2 million people who lost their lives through this awful event, but other sources say it may have been way more than that. All I know is that whatever rain we’ve experienced in our lives is nothing compared to this.
A Powerful Typhoon
Cyclones, hurricanes, and typhoons are indeed some of the most stunning examples of nature’s power. But there are different categories, and some of them can be more powerful than others. In 1881, the port city of Haiphong in Vietnam got hit by the Coringa cyclone, one of the most powerful and deadliest natural disasters of its time. It was so bad that it took the lives of at least 300,000 people.
The Giant’s Causeway
Some say these 40,000 steps were built by a giant (hence its name); others say it was built by a lost, iron-age civilization. But the reality is that the Giant’s Causeway is the product of a volcanic eruption that happened a long time ago. Today, it is considered a Unesco World Heritage Site and while we all know the truth regarding the origins of this place, Irish Folklore still insists that these natural wonders were made by their mythological hero Finn McCool. As I look at these steps, I just like to remember that not every natural disaster ends up in tragedy. It’s crazy to think that this unique destination came from an eruption.
Mudhdhoo Island
Just look at a picture of the Maldives and you’ll know right away why I think this is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. The islands alone are solid proof that nature is stunning and full of beautiful things. But if you go to Mudhdhoo Island you’ll get to experience one of the most unique sights on Earth. During the night, the bioluminescent phytoplankton in the water produce their own light, making the ocean and the sand glow in the dark. Forget about those neon lights from the cities or those glow in the dark posters you have in your room. They got nothing on the power of these plankton.
A Historical Cyclone
According to scientists, the Coringa Cyclone made its landfall on the city of Coringa, India on November 25, 1839. I know... that was a long time ago, but the records show that this catastrophic event produced a storm surge of 12 meters high. It is hard to know the category of this storm or the velocity of the wind, but it’s known that at least 300,000 people died and more than 20,000 ships and boats were destroyed. So I guess it wasn’t just a regular storm. It was indeed a chaotic one.
Salar de Uyuni
These amazing Salt Flats are one of Bolivia’s natural wonders. If you ever go there, this is a place you can’t miss. And as soon as you step into this dreamlike location you’ll realize that the floor looks like a huge mirror. No wonder people get awesome pictures whenever they go there. These flats are the result of some evaporated lakes that date back to the prehistoric age. And when the nearby lakes flood, this place turns into a mirrored surface that will make it feel as if you’re walking on an infinite piece of dreamland. But this space is more than just an Instagram-able spot. The Flats are also an important supply of salt and lithium, two valuable elements that sustain the local economy.
Mind-Blowing Mountain Peaks
There are many mountains around the world. And if you live in a mountainous country then you’ve probably seen a couple of mountains or hills with pretty cool-looking shapes. One of the most outstanding mountains peaks are in the Italian Dolomites.
