This video looks at the ways that we can build teacher presence and communication in distance learning courses. Distance learning courses can often be isolating as there is little teacher presence on the course and students often feel they are working alone.
The team at Sheffield University highlight the use of video in their teaching training courses to guide trainee teachers through the course and offer more support. This includes footage of lessons as well as guides for the online content.

They use a special tool to help record classroom footage which allows for more effective filming of the classroom. They use Camtasia to make the videos and have experimented with green screen video.

They also make use of video for CPD sessions too with members of their own staff.
